The 94th Academy Awards ceremony, co-hosted by Amy Schumer, Wanda Sykes and Regina Hall, gave us iconic fashion moments.
The oscars’ red carpet show was hosted by actress and tick, tick… BOOM! star Vanessa Hudgens with co-hosts fashion designer Brandon Maxwell, actress and singer Sofia Carson and actor and producer Terrence J.
Notable looks from the carpet include Lily James’ pretty in pink Versace dress, Jessica Chastain’s sequin Gucci gown and Lupita Nyong’O’s gold Prada number.
Alana Haim, accompanied by her sisters Este and Danielle, rocked a custom beaded Louis Vuitton dress.
Dressed in classic red, was Tracee Ellis Ross with a drop-waist Carolina Herrera ball gown and Ariana DeBose in a custom Valentino couture pants, who won Best Supporting Actress for her performance in West Side Story.
Speaking of performance, Beyonce’s opening number of “Be Alive” from the nominated motion picture King Richard, was the first time the song was performed.
The neon yellow wardrobe reminiscent of a tennis ball was accompanied by instruments of the same shade. Beyonce’s off-the-shoulder gown, a David Koma design, was completed with matching gloves, diamond earrings and a diamond garter belt.
Although this was Beyonce’s first Academy nomination, her fellow nominees Billie Eilish and Finneas ultimately won Best Original Score with “No Time To Die.” Eilish was dressed in a dramatic Gucci ruffled gown.
Best Supporting Actress nominee Aunjanue Ellis’ orange tulle ball gown was engraved with the words “Jax Baby,” a subtle homage to her mother.
Staying in the warm colors, Megan Thee Stallion wore a golden flamenco-style gown to join the cast of Encanto in their performance of “We Don’t Talk About Bruno.” If true to the lyrics in her verse, the dress would be a Versace creation.
On the carpet, the rapper presented a soft glam look with a strapless blue gown by Indian designer Gaurav Gupta, completed with a leg slit.
More celebrities that showed some skin included Zendaya in her Valentino crop top and skirt combo and Kristen Stewart in a Chanel short suit.
One of the boldest looks of the night was Timothée Chalamet’s bare-chested Louis Vuitton womenswear fit. The embroidered jacket and pants were part of the brand’s Spring-Summer 2022 collection. The look was completed with Cartier jewelry and boots.
Although a lot of men walked the red carpet with the classic black tux, some stood out by opting for a colorful look.
Canadian actor Simu Liu looked very patriotic in a red Versace suit and Academy Award-winning actor Daniel Kaluuya presented a category in a bright turquoise suit. The “Power of the Dog” actor and Best Supporting Actor nominee Kodi Smit-McPhee opted for a baby blue Bottega Veneta suit.
Another suit that made people talk was Sebastian Yatra’s butterfly-filled tux as he performed “Dos Oruguitas” from the Best Animated Feature “Encanto.”
After many awards ceremonies getting canceled, postponed or hosted online in the past two years, it was refreshing to see Hollywood dressed to the nines again.
