BTK Villeion is a singer-songwriter located in Missouri. He just came out with his new single “F it I made it”, which he created alongside G Milla and Eva Shaw. After reading this article, about his life and music career, you’ll agree he definitely did make it.
Dedication to music is one of BTK Villeion’s hardworking traits, he says that success is all about who works the hardest. Every time he goes to the studio, he records three songs: a hype song, a sad song and a romantic song. He says that he can’t remake the same song more than once, as he’s unable to revisit that feeling.
BTK Villeion is Liberian, although he grew up in a small town in Ivory Coast. He started to get into music by listening to his brothers and their friends rapping. They had a little studio set up in the same room where he slept. He enjoyed listening to them and encouraged them to publish their songs.
“They [his brothers] were putting in a lot of hours [into making music]. Perfecting it. They learned how to mix their own stuff. I was like man, wow that’s crazy. But I never found interest in making anything. I knew I liked music, but I never thought that I would like making music.”
After BTK Villeion escaped the war in Liberia, he spent 2 to 3 years at a peace camp before he, his brothers and his mother got accepted as refugees to get into the United States. They first went to South Dakota. It was so different” BTK Villeion said. “I was so excited, I can still remember it like it was yesterday because I kept looking out the window of the car and things like that. It’s still exciting to me” he said.
His life went through another drastic change, as he got sent to jail when he was only 16. In Jail, he started to make music. Music and pictures from the outside world kept him going.
”I would not take that back though, that’s what really made me the type of person I am today” BTK Villeion said about his time in jail. “It’s like there are different things you can do when you’re incarcerated, it’s like you got nothing but time, so you have to use it to be useful. I was the one who was working out and then doing music. I was trying to improve myself when I was in there. I was trying to change how I used to look at life, and go a different type of way.”
When he was in Jail, he would rap to his mother. His brothers heard him too, and supported him. “The only reason that [I started making music] is when I was facing a lot of time. When I got my first huge case, and they charged me, I think I was like 16 or 17. They charged me as an adult, they waved me from juvenile…” BTK Villeion said.
His music shares a mix of emotions, and most of his songs take on a different feel. He’s working on a song called “Broken”, and he’s excited for it to come out. It’s all about toxicity in relationships. He’s a “love boy”, his brothers say he talks about relationships a lot. Relationships are a relatable topic, “almost everyone has gotten their heart broken” he said.
BTK Villeion started out just enjoying listening to music. Spending time incarcerated alone, encouraged him to make it. “I just kept going, kept making music,” he said. “My lyrics are about just going through life.” The songs he writes, depend on his current feelings. He’s working on new songs for his upcoming album Drugs and Illusions 2 and is hoping to move to LA sometime soon.
